2nd-year Field trip to Gardenia Beverages Sdn Bhd

PMSSMP Exco Project & Protocol, HuiPin, organized a field trip to Gardenia Beverages Sdn. Bhd situated at Putatan, Sabah on 2nd & 7th May 2008.

001

Group2 went for the 7th May trip and consider ourselves to be lucky because we manage to witness the processing of soybean milk. Many of our coursemates (Group1) who went on the 2nd May gave negative feedbacks due to the overloaded amount of people attended and only get to see the processing of mineral water.

The first thing that came into our view after the half an hour drive is these 2-storey high stacked trays

002

We were first introduced to the canning process of soya bean milk.

003

Soya bean milk production

013

The cans without lids are imported from Peninsular.

004

005

The cans are then placed on the belt to begin the process.

006

Following the belt, they are machine-washed.

007

008

Soya bean milk are filled into the cans.

009

010

Then they are vacuumed and covered tightly with lids.

011

012

After that, expiry date is sprayed under the cans.

014

015

To avoid contamination and to prolong the shelf-life of the soya bean milk, they are then moved into a huge metal basket and followed by pasteurization.

016

017

018

019

Subsequently, the pasteurized milk are packed into cartons, sealed with plastics

020

021

022

023

024

and Voila! Done!

025

Mineral bottles come in the form of this small cute little tube-like thingy.

026

027

It is heated in order to soften the structure

028

and air is blown through the machine into the small tube

029

030

and POP! It become this large

031

Whilst the processing of mineral water does not operate today, we were allowed to enter the room for a more detail description.

032

First step is to spray water into the bottles for cleaning purpose.

033

Secondly, vacuumfill mineral water into the bottles.

034

Thirdly, place caps on bottles.

035

036

Final step, auto seal the cap.

037

At the end of the tour, we got to taste bottles of soft drinks and soybean milk.

038

Group2 (the amount is much more lesser than first group).

039

On the way to bus, we caught a glimpse on this..

040

Gardenia is catering MAS for their beverages.

Recent Events - Nestle ice-cream seminar, Gardenia Field trip & NNIM Symposium

I apologise for the neglected blog for almost a month. Final exam bah~

Ok, let me update you all with some of our recent events.

As mentioned before, Nestle (Sarawak) came to our school to have a talk on ice-cream processing. Opening remarks was given by Dr.Chye. The amount of students (both the 1st year and 2nd year) attended was satisfying. Our curiousity on the products were met during the interactive Q & A session. Everyone got to try on one of their products after the talk. That's great isn't it?
