PMSSMP Exco Project & Protocol, HuiPin, organized a field trip to Gardenia Beverages Sdn. Bhd situated at Putatan, Sabah on 2nd & 7th May 2008.
Group2 went for the 7th May trip and consider ourselves to be lucky because we manage to witness the processing of soybean milk. Many of our coursemates (Group1) who went on the 2nd May gave negative feedbacks due to the overloaded amount of people attended and only get to see the processing of mineral water.
The first thing that came into our view after the half an hour drive is these 2-storey high stacked trays
We were first introduced to the canning process of soya bean milk.
Soya bean milk production
The cans without lids are imported from Peninsular.
The cans are then placed on the belt to begin the process.
Following the belt, they are machine-washed.
Soya bean milk are filled into the cans.
Then they are vacuumed and covered tightly with lids.
After that, expiry date is sprayed under the cans.
To avoid contamination and to prolong the shelf-life of the soya bean milk, they are then moved into a huge metal basket and followed by pasteurization.
Subsequently, the pasteurized milk are packed into cartons, sealed with plastics
and Voila! Done!
Mineral bottles come in the form of this small cute little tube-like thingy.
It is heated in order to soften the structure
and air is blown through the machine into the small tube
and POP! It become this large
Whilst the processing of mineral water does not operate today, we were allowed to enter the room for a more detail description.
First step is to spray water into the bottles for cleaning purpose.
Secondly, vacuumfill mineral water into the bottles.
Thirdly, place caps on bottles.
Final step, auto seal the cap.
At the end of the tour, we got to taste bottles of soft drinks and soybean milk.
Group2 (the amount is much more lesser than first group).
On the way to bus, we caught a glimpse on this..
Gardenia is catering MAS for their beverages.
